The federal Clean Water Act requires states to review their water quality standards every three years.

The last time North Carolina reviewed our clean water standards was in 2006. In November,  the state environmental agency invited public comment on our water quality standards, but now suggests it may delay action.

We need your help to urge N.C. DENR to strengthen our water quality standards now. Clean water and a healthy environment are vitally important to all North Carolinians – for our health, property values, recreational and business opportunities.
