It is with great pleasure and pride that we announce to you that Mecklenburg County Department of Park and Recreation has been selected from the 2012 Finalists as the 2012 National Gold Medal Award Winner.
The Gold Medal Award honors communities throughout the United States that demonstrate excellence in long-range planning, resource management, and agency recognition. Each agency is judged on its ability to address the needs of those it serves through the collective energies of citizens, staff, and elected officials.
Please join the Park and Recreation Department in saluting Director Jim Garges and the extraordinary efforts of the many employees of the Park and Recreation Department who made this great honor possible. From Park Operations to the daily Community and Recreation Center Support Services represented through our many Park Divisions, the citizens of Mecklenburg County can be proud of the accomplishments demonstrated by the employees of our department.
