Whether you are an active cyclist or have a bike gathering dust in the garage we have a great program for you. Have you ever wondered, “What can we do to make Charlotte more bike friendly?” Can enhanced planning and design to accommodate cycling make our City more sustainable? Reduce our carbon footprint? What are Charlotte and the state of NC doing to make a difference in this area?
Make plans to join us on Wednesday, August 22, as we welcome Martin Zimmerman, former Executive Director of CABA (Charlotte Area Bicycle Alliance), for a presentation and discussion about “Bicycling, sustainability and culture change – - – - a path to radically reduce Char-Meck’s carbon footprint “. Martin is a retired architect, city planner and former Director of Facilities Planning for UNC Charlotte at which time he co-chaired a national committee on sustainable campus design and presented its findings at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. He’s the author of over 80 articles and reviews related to transportation mobility, smart growth and urban design. He’s been an active champion on transportation, trails and greenways, bike share programs and other issues for Charlotte and North Carolina.
