That’s what Jamie Cannon did – all 2,175 miles of the Appalachian Trail

Bill Gupton is the Central Piedmont Group’s executive committee chairman. He heard about Cannon from a Sierra Club member in South Carolina, where Cannon was living until a recent move to Midland.
“When I found out what a unique story he had to tell, I thought it would be ideal,” said Gupton, 61.
One of the Sierra Club’s goals is promoting time outside. When they are outdoors, “people are more inclined to want to protect those areas and become active,” said Gupton.”

” The Sierra Club said fracking will contaminate water sources and release massive levels of methane into the environment. “People’s faucets have caught on fire when they turn the water on and somebody had a match lit by it. It’s a huge problem,” said Chatham Olive with the NC Sierra Club.”
