The day started at 5:30 AM when Park & Rec Nature Center Manager Pepe Chaves and I met WCNC film team, reporter Richard DeVayne and photojournalist Pierre Simmons, at the RibbonWalk Nature Preserve to do 4 live segments for the morning news (see “Ribbon Walk gets facelift from volunteers“). Thanks to these three for braving the cold to help spread the word about this great Mecklenburg resource. SAVE THE DATE: Next RibbonWalk Repair Day is Saturday, Jan 7th, from 9-12.
A Tunnel of Trees at the RibbonWalk
Folks began arriving between 8:30 and 9:00 for some hot coffee and Bojangles biscuits in “Bessie”. We took off and attacked the Kudzu patch and made some great progress. The group hiked a new trail to the Covered Bridge and then went exploring through Hawk Meadow to the old stables. Here are some scenes from our day.
