The North Carolina Utilities Commission has scheduled the first of six public hearing in the state for Charlotte on October 11th at 7:00 PM at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, Room 267, 600 East Fourth Street, Charlotte, NC 28202.
Last year Duke began implementing an 8% rate hike and on September 1 they have added on a 5% fuel surcharge. Duke Energy is now requesting the following rate increases:
- An increase of 17.4% for residential customers
- An increase of 14% for commercial (business) customers
- An increase of 14% for industrial customers
- An increase of 8.3% for lightning customers
Citizens wishing to make comments about the proposed rate hate should arrive early to sign up to speak. Details about the public hearing are below:
